Zhang Rudong: Stadium renovation should be responsible for society and health

Recently, the reporter of venue resource network conducted a special interview on the renovation of domestic stadiums, so as to let more venue users and maintainers know the precautions in the maintenance and renewal of stadiums, and pay attention to the development of sports surface and the renewal of concepts. For this reason, we interviewed Zhang Rudong, deputy director of the office of China sports venues Association and expert of the sports equipment committee of the State Sports Administration. He analyzed the requirements and precautions in the process of stadium renovation from a professional perspective.
Venue resource network: when will the sports surface enter China? What is the way to get large-scale promotion and application?
Zhang Rudong: the plastic runway was developed by the Minnesota Mining Company (3M company) in 1961. It was officially adopted at the 19th Mexico Olympic Games in 1968 and recognized by the International Olympic Committee. In 1980, Baoding Great Wall Rubber company laid the first independently developed plastic track in the track and field field of the former State Sports Commission Training Bureau.
In 1966, the fully enclosed Astrodome stadium was built in Houston, the United States, and the world's first artificial turf field for baseball games was paved. In 1989, the first artificial turf field for hockey game in Beijing Asian Games was paved in Beijing Olympic Sports Center. In 2003, the first artificial turf football field was laid in No. 93 Middle School of Beijing.
For more than 20 years, as a high-end sports ground, the plastic track is only laid in large stadiums in the country or provinces. Zhidao won the Beijing Olympic Games in 2001. As one of the measures to control the dust weather and improve the air pollution in Beijing, the Beijing municipal government has put forward the requirements to pave the bare soil ground of the school with artificial lawn and plastic. Since then, under the leadership of Beijing, schools across the country have gradually started to lay artificial sports surface.
Venue resource network: in addition to professional sports venues, campus and other sports venues for sports surface recognition and acceptance of what is the reason? Up to now, almost all the sports fields on campus in China use plastic track, and the original slag track is basically eliminated. Is this development trend correct?
Zhang Rudong: in order to show the strength of China's sports internationally, China implements the gold medal strategy of the national sports system in competitive sports. As a grass-roots unit under this system, the school undertakes the task of finding and transporting talents, and its reward mechanism is also shown here. Sports ground is the material basis of sports, and track and field events are the basic events of all sports. Therefore, every school attaches great importance to the construction of track and field field, so it also takes the plastic track as the first choice.
The polyurethane used in the plastic track is a kind of non degradable material like plastic bag, also known as "Millennium waste". In addition, toluene diisocyanate (TDI), an important curing additive in polyurethane, is a highly toxic material. According to the principle, schools should be far away from these chemical pollution sources which are harmful to society and students' health. However, under the system of gold medal strategy, coupled with inadequate science popularization and publicity, the trend of school's pursuit of plastic track is still difficult to stop.
Venue resource network: what are the experts' suggestions for the second renovation of the stadium? At the same time, what aspects should party a focus on to ensure the site quality?
Zhang Rudong: with the large-scale construction and development of plastic runway and artificial lawn in recent ten years, many sites have reached or nearly reached the end of their service life, and the renovation work will gradually be included in the agenda. Among them, it is a work with a certain technical content to formulate the standards for renewal and transformation plans. This work should employ technical personnel who are familiar with the development trend of science and technology in sports field industry, master the national policy on sports field construction and development, understand the performance, price, advantages and disadvantages of various field construction materials, and reasonably formulate the field standard according to different users, so as to avoid being bewitched by the businessmen and achieve the best effect with the minimum investment.
It is particularly important to pay attention to the issue of ecological and environmental protection, which is not only responsible for the society, but also for the health of school students and staff.
Venue resource network: in the process of using the sports surface layer, there are slightly different requirements for the selection of the campus, government agencies, general fitness venues and professional sports venues. At this stage, is there any essential difference in the sports surface layer under different use conditions in China? Is it necessary to replace the new sports surface materials in the course of site renovation?
Zhang Rudong: there are several answers to this question. First of all, there is no essential difference in the function of sports ground, which serves for sports. But in terms of materials, there are great differences, that is, different cost performance.
With the development of materials science and site construction technology, there are continuously emerging site materials and construction technology with good quality, low cost performance, convenient construction and maintenance, and meeting the requirements of ecological environment protection. Therefore, when updating and transforming the sports ground, it is necessary to timely collect and understand the latest developments in this field, and then formulate the transformation plan according to the personalized needs of the unit.
Venue resource network: is there any difference between China and foreign countries in terms of the renovation of sports venues, the service life of venues and the replacement rate of new materials?
Zhang Rudong: there is no essential difference in this respect, but different countries have different support policies for eco-environmental materials. For example, in the UK, there is a kind of material that can save energy consumption of swimming pools - swimming pool insulation film. The membrane can greatly reduce the heat energy consumption of the water temperature of the swimming pool and the carbon emission. The British government has given strong policy support to this: every swimming pool project using this material will be given a financial reward of up to 3500 pounds. This policy promoted the popularization and development of the technology.
